The Story So Far
Castle Exterior
Dunimarle Castle, a picturesque castellated castle of 1840, incorporates an earlier small 18th-century house. On the north-east facade of the castle is the gothic chapel-like 4-bay asped Orangery.
Castle Interior
With the castle laying empty for nearly forty years substantial repairs and refurbishment was required however many of the original features still remain including heraldic panels, painted chinese wallpaper and cherub and animal corbels.
Castle Gardens
The gardens were laid out by Jasper Wallace, a Scottish horticultural society silver medal winner. Many of his 1840 plantings still remain today including the North Avenue lined with Sequoiadendron Giganteum and Araucaria araucana. A very early bowling green still remains in the Bastion garden, surrounded by herbaceous borders and specimen trees.
